A logo is not something that graphic designers slap together in a matter of minutes and call it a day. At least it shouldn't in theory...
There is a process behind the creation. Especially a good logo! The ideas, concepts, execution and finally the edits.
A logo is the face of a business. It is the first thing clients and customers see before reaching out. Which means it is important that it represents your business the best it can. It also stays with the company for as long as it is effective. That can be up to a lifetime! See McDonald's for example. Or even Nike!
The creation process could take hours as it's not always perfect the first time around. Here are the steps that designers take when creating an effective logo.
A lot of care is taken into the thought process of the logo. It should have meaning and charm for it to spark the interest of the people that see it. This is a very overlooked aspect of a logo and should be taken more into consideration as it is something that will last for a long time to come. A good idea can open many doors in the future.
The concept part is where the ideas start to take their first steps into existence. They are usually roughly sketched on paper or drawn on computers numerous times until the concepts start taking shape and are ready for high quality vector redraw.
The vector redraw of the concepts can be a lengthy process depending on the complexity of the concept design. Sometimes a concept doesn't always end up looking as good when polished which can lead to some minor changes to further optimise the design. This process is what makes the lines and shapes look clean and presentable for real world applications. It is where colors are also applied if need be or desired.
Upon presentation of the logos, the client may like a design but would want a certain thing changed or added. Or even have a whole new design altogether if they don't feel it's right for them or their business. This can lead to a complete repeat of the above steps.
So as you can see above, although the end result might be simple, there is still a process to get to that point.
I try to make the process as streamlined as possible to ensure a smooth and successful outcome that both the client and I are happy with.
